Why am I not satisfied in my relationships? Is it a skill issue?
From a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) perspective, four areas of skill stand out as particularly important in relationships: emotional regulation, validation and empathy, healthy boundary setting, and pausing to take a step back. Emotional regulation helps us identify what we are experiencing. Validation and empathy allow us to connect with another person’s experience, even if we don’t agree with it.
